Chaos broke out in East London on Thursday night after a man in a homemade superhero costume attempted to apprehend two teenagers outside Tesco Express on Mile End Road.
Wearing a bright blue cape, goggles, and ski boots, the man — known online as “Justice Jack” — declared he was placing the teens under citizen’s arrest for allegedly stealing energy drinks. Eyewitnesses say he tripped over a parking bollard mid-sentence, at which point the teens ran off laughing.
Police were called but made no arrests. Tesco staff claim the man “burst in shouting about justice,” knocking over a crisps display and creating “absolute carnage.”
This is not the first incident involving Justice Jack. Similar sightings have been reported outside Greggs, a dog park, and once during a church fête tombola.
Now, police are appealing for help identifying the caped crusader. Locals speculate he may be connected to a “neighbourhood vigilante Facebook group”, and one user posted CCTV stills captioned “Mate. Is this Gary from the allotments??”
No injuries were reported, but Tesco has issued a lifetime ban for the man, “masked or unmasked.”
